The Shear operator uses power shears to cut metal sheets to specific dimensions and shapes.
Roles & Responsibilities
Shear and properly handle galvanized, stainless steel, aluminum, and cold rolled steel.
Verify material type is correctly pulled and sheared according to shear sheet requirements.
Maximize sheet usage and reduce waste by analyzing shear sheet requirements of future work orders.
Produce high quality materials within prescribed standards.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Must have at least two (2) years of Shear Operator experience.
- Ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers) to take accurate measurements
- Knowledge of the properties of metal and other material
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals
- Good at math with analytical abilities
- Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship will be an asset
